Merchants Millpond

RWD is working with Frank Harmon Architect to design a visitor's center in Merchants Millpond State Park to highlight the wetland ecology, biodiversity and cultural history of the region, complete with a replica of a mill. Four different ecosystems will be represented with model habitat recreations, interactive and interpretive exhibits. The structure of the building itself encourages visitors to explore the park by providing views of the actual millpond while exploring the exhibits. Green materials used to fabricate this project include:

  • Low VOC paint
  • Reclaimed wood
  • Medite II
  • Preserved and collected materials for dioramas
  • Water-based adhesives
  • Dimmer controls
  • Low voltage halogen
  • Sidelighting
