Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education
Riggs Ward designed the 6,000-square-foot permanent exhibition, Life by Water's Rhythms, in Corolla's new Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education. The gallery features a 12,000-gallon freshwater aquarium displaying regional species of fish from the Currituck Sound, wildlife habitat dioramas, one of the nation's largest collections of artisan-made decoys, hands-on and computer interactives, and interpretive displays informing visitors of the region's centuries-old hunting and fishing heritage. Green materials used to fabricate this project include:
- Expanko cork flooring
- Low VOC paint
- Medite II
- Water-based adhesives
- 100% recyclable carpet
- Cove lighting
- Low voltage halogen
